Rite, Latvia, Europe
NGO "ACC Tautskolas Eiropai" carried out a project "Rite, Latvia, Europe" in autumn 2003. The project was financially supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consisted of three events:
1. Meeting in Rite Folkhighschool where the new governing body of Rite Folkhighschool met its co-operation partners from Denmark and the Netherlands. The meeting took place from October 25th till October 26th, 2003. The aim of the meeting was to encourage development of European dimension in Rite Folkhighschool. During the meeting the planned co-operation events were discussed, including youth exchange project in summer 2004, training projects for farmers etc.
2. A seminar for young people that took place in Rite Folkhighschool from October 30th till November 2nd, 2003. The aim of the seminar was to encourage young people to take part in the processes that are of vital importance for the community, namely to take part in discussions about Latvia's accession to the European Union. Possibilities of different target groups were discussed, as for example, youth, businessmen, people involved in the field of culture activities, farmers etc.
During the seminar the participants had the possibility to take part in several study visits (met representatives from Jekabpils City Council, visited Jekabpils bakery, the farm " Kalna Dambrani", Krustpils museum and Jekabpils EU Information Point). Group work helped to sum up knowledge gained during the seminar with the acquired theoretical basis and practical experience.
3. Study visit in Riga for young people December 22nd, 2003. During the study visit the participants visited European Commission Delegation in Latvia, EU Information Centre of Saeima (Latvian Parliament), The Danish Royal Embassy, European Movement - Latvia and Club "The House" - Youth for United Europe.
Rite, Summer and Me
NGO "ACC Tautskolas Eiropai" carried out a project - English language summer camp "Rite, Summer and Me" for children from Jekabpils district. The camp took place July 11th - 20th, 2003 in Rite Folkhighschool. The aim of the camp was to offer the participants the possibility to spend summer holidays purposefully, to gain new knowledge of English and IT. The project was carried out in close co-operation with Rite Folkhighschool that let its premises for the camp, and was financially supported by Rite Municipality, Danish-Swedish support group and Jekabpils City Council. 22 children from Jekabpils district took part in the camp. During the camp they not only improved their knowledge of English and IT, but also gained new friends, took part in entertaining and informative events (like night-hike, quizzes, hikes, masquerade, dance evenings etc.), and worked on pieces of art, that were performed in different techniques.
